START FROM NOTHING
A random image prompt generator that writes complete prompts
Most prompt generators hand you a fragment: “a cat, cyberpunk, 8k.” This one writes the whole brief. It invents a specific subject and scene for the category and style you choose, then adds composition, viewpoint, lighting, palette, materials and mood in the order image models read best, and leaves out the filler words that drag a result back to a model’s default look.
Categories
Portrait · Product photography · Landscape · Architecture & interior · Food & drink · Fashion editorial · Animals & wildlife · Character design · Fantasy & sci-fi scene · Abstract & pattern · Logo & icon · Poster & book cover · Street & documentary · Still life · Vehicle · Nature macro.
Pick the kind of image first. A category decides what the prompt has to get right: a product prompt needs surface, light and negative space; a portrait needs expression, wardrobe and a lens feel; a landscape needs weather, time of day and a focal point.
Styles
Photorealistic · Cinematic film · 35mm film photo · Minimal studio · Editorial fashion · Anime · Manga · 3D animation · Watercolor illustration · Oil painting · Chinese ink painting · Japanese ukiyo-e · Cyberpunk · Steampunk · Retro-futurism · Surrealism · Pointillism · Op art · Doodle art · Sketch drawing · Minimalist poster · Retro poster · Stained glass · Paper quilling · Origami · Clay sculpture · Pixel art · Flat vector · Isometric render · Baroque · Renaissance · Gothic art · Bauhaus · Constructivism · Victorian · Vintage photograph.
The style is written as observable qualities rather than a label alone, so “ukiyo-e” arrives as flat mineral pigments, visible paper texture and patterned clouds, not just the word. Each style here has examples in the AI art styles list.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Image prompt generator FAQ
What is an AI image prompt generator?
It writes a complete image prompt for you when you do not have one yet. Choose a category such as portrait, product or landscape, choose a style such as anime, watercolor or 35mm film, and it invents a specific subject, scene, composition, lighting and palette that fit. The result is ready to paste into any image model.
Is the prompt generator free?
Yes. You can generate prompts without an account within the daily free allowance. Each prompt costs one credit on a plan, the same as Text to Prompt.
How is this different from Text to Prompt?
Text to Prompt expands words you already have. The Image Prompt Generator starts from nothing but a category and a style and invents the subject for you. Use it to find a direction, then send the result to Text to Prompt to rewrite it toward your own idea, or to the AI Image Generator to render it.
What does Surprise me do?
It picks a random category, a random style and a random seed word, then asks the model to let the seed steer the subject somewhere unexpected but coherent. Run it a few times to build a list of directions quickly.
Can I generate an art prompt in a specific style, such as anime or ukiyo-e?
Yes. The style list mirrors the styles in the Image Prompt Gallery, including anime, manga, watercolor, oil painting, Chinese ink, ukiyo-e, cyberpunk, steampunk, surrealism, pointillism, Bauhaus and more. The prompt leads with medium and style so the image model commits to it.
Will the prompt work in Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Flux, ChatGPT and Gemini?
The generator writes clean natural-language prompts without model parameters, which every current model accepts. For Midjourney parameters or Stable Diffusion tags, paste the result into Text to Prompt and choose that target model.
Can I get random prompt ideas for practice or a daily art challenge?
That is what Surprise me is for. Each click gives a new, specific prompt; nothing is repeated from a fixed list, so it works as a daily drawing or AI art prompt generator.
